Much Love, and Happy Holidays! As I'm sure most of you already know, I will be leaving the country on January 8th to study abroad in London, England. My program is called an "island program", which means that the University of Wisconsin picks up a bunch of UW-Madison students (43 of us), and places them in a different country. No, it's not like Survivor...we stay in a nice little flat (and by little I mean big) across the street from Hyde Park where the only thing to worry about is if we can see Kensington Palace from our window (which we can), and if I'm going to like my Intro to London Theatre class where a significant portion of it requires me to attend the theatre (Yeah, I know!).
And luckily for me, I picked the most expensive city in the world. If you are less inclined to believe me---on a current internet expedition in which I attempted to find my roommate Erin an inexpensive ticket to come visit me---I received a message from the travel site that said,
"An error has occurred. There are currently no low-cost routes to London."
Needless to say, I do not recommend "flycheapo.com" as your next, dependable, low-cost travel site. But regardless of declining dollar strength and that 40 pound taxi ride from the airport to my new home (I'm talking cash, people. I am certain my luggage will weigh far more than 40 pounds and I have no intention of carrying it.) this opportunity is not one I am willing to miss!
My program starts on January 14th, and ends on April 25th. My tentative return date to the United States is May 1st. (Yes, Mom. I said tentative. ;-) )
Soooooo, I would love to include all of you in my journey! I hope to write as often as things are interesting (which I don't think will be a problem), and perhaps you can enjoy a little bit of Europe with me as well.
If you'd rather not receive emails detailing my European adventures, please let me know!! Otherwise, I look forward to keeping you informed, about what is sure to be an amazing experience.
Annette
